Floodwaters Invade!

It’s that time of year where all the snow and ice is beginning to melt.  The influx in water and rain during this season can back up storm sewers and cause floodwaters to come into your home.  This water may be contaminated with dangerous viruses, bacteria, chemicals, and biological material.

               When the water enters your home, it can seem very overwhelming.  The floor is wet, the water is seeping into the walls, and the items on the floor are soaked.  SERVPRO of Bennington & Rutland Counties responds in less than four hours from your call, and provides cleanup services for flood damage to homes and businesses.  We take all the precautions for the protection of your family and our employees.  The steps requiring include:

After the appropriate steps are taken, SERVPRO may also need to complete control demolition of contaminated flooring materials, make flood cuts in the walls to expose damaged and contaminated drywall, insulation, and vapor barriers.  Once contaminated materials are removed, everything is disinfected and cleaned and we use our air movers and dehumidifiers to dry the space damaged by floodwaters.
