Hardwood floors are a beautiful addition to your home that are awfully expensive and that you would want to preserve! However, when hardwood flooring gets wet during a water damage it can cause serious problems. Even if the water is cleaned up immediately, the water may have already penetrated the flooring. If the water penetrates the flooring it travels under the floorboards which can cause them to swell and to buckle. It can take roughly 48 hours for visible signs of water damage in wood flooring and in many cases this damage can be irreversible which means the flooring will require replacement if it cannot be salvaged. As we stated before, timing is essential when evaluating water damaged hardwood flooring, the length of time the floor is wet is a critical factor. If the flooring dwells in water too long, it is possible for the board to warp and buckle so severely that they can break. Rapid response is critical!
This is where SERVPRO of Bennington & Rutland Counties comes in to help! We here have the proper state of the art drying equipment specifically designed for saving hardwood floors.
