Summer Storms are Just Around the Corner!

Did you know that thunderstorms are most likely to occur in the spring and summer months? Just because the weather is nice and warm does not mean that summer storms are not dangerous! As of June 20th summer is officially here so now is the time to start thinking about how to prepare for summer storms. Follow these simple tips below to be more prepared!
- Keep cash on you.
- Fill your gas tanks and any extra gas tanks that you have.
- Ensure you have plenty of drinking water handy and nonperishable foods.
- Charge your mobile devices.
- Have extra chargers that you can charge your device with incase you lose power.
- Keep a light source on you such as a candle or flashlight.
- Have ice on you and store some in a cooler in case the power goes out.
- Move your vehicles away from trees.
- Make sure your pets are secure and protected, ensure you have enough food and water for them.
- Strap anything outside that could fly away such as a grill, tables, and chairs, etc.
- Steer clear from windows which could easily break at any moment.
- Avoid taking baths and showers.
- Always keep a first aid kit in your home.
- If your town is evacuating because of a storm if you have time board up and secure your windows and any other openings of your home.
- Avoid electrical wires especially if you are experiencing a water damage as well.
